Pupil Free Day Tomorrow Friday June 5

Tomorrow Friday June 5 is a Pupil Free DayThis day was booked at the beginning of the year and set aside for staff professional learning. In amongst all the disruptions to regular teaching and learning it is still necessary for staff to access quality professional development and continue to experience new learning to support better student outcomes. As this is the Friday before the June long weekend, it may be a really great opportunity with restrictions lifted on regional travel for a short family getaway somewhere in country SA. I thank you in advance for your support with this.

We will be offering the OSHC program on this day for families who may need child care.

Preschool will be operating as normal.

New Reception Class Term 3

We will be starting a new Reception Class at the beginning of Term 3.  This class will be based in the Blue Room, with our ever-successful Growing into Reception program moving into the rooms where the Uniform shop was located.  The Uniform shop has relocated to where STEM was in 2019.  We are also relocating the Music Room (moving next door) to facilitate the proposed need for an extra class in 2021.

COVID-19 Update

Below is an update from Catholic Education SA who take advice from SA Health via the Department for Education, which are specific to school and preschool settings.

Playgroup:  Suspended until further notice

Sports Training / Competitions / Carnivals / SAPSASA:  Preparations to return to competitions should commence gradually, rather than a comprehensive and simultaneous recommencement of competition.

The proposal that has been endorsed by the Director, states:

• For Weeks 7, 8 and 9 of Term 2 (ie after June 13) sports training will resume

• From Week 1 of Term 3 (ie from 20 July) a resumption of competition for non and low contact sports (without spectators) will resume

Pentecost

On Sunday, the Church celebrated the Feast of Pentecost. Pentecost occurs 50 days after Easter and symbolises the Holy Spirit coming to the Disciples, giving them courage to go out and spread the Good News about God and Jesus. Pentecost is often referred to as the 'Birthday of the Church', as it was from this day forward that people were baptised in the name of Christ and the Church began.

Children celebrated this feast with a Classroom Liturgy, sharing prayers, a picture book and singing a favourite liturgical song, Hearts on Fire.
