This year has been an extraordinary year, with us all having to navigate through the challenges of COVID-19. As the staff and I plan for Term 4 we will attempt to have events which will have parents in attendance. Unfortunately, it comes as no surprise to families that these events have or could be impacted by COVID-19 in one way or the other. This is frustrating for everyone, but it is worth considering that we are quite fortunate to have our students at school and that we are in a State, where we can hold these events at all! It is only natural for every child and adult to wish things could be run in the “normal way”, but as we all know this is not possible, at this stage.
The theme for our planning for the remainder of the year is to be agile and flexible, when planning events! This will apply to the following events:
Swimming R – 4 – Unfortunately parents can not attend these lessons to watch their children. We are following the Swim Centre's COVID Management Plan. Extra staff will be in attendance to assist children with their changing. This is an opportunity for our children to develop a sense of independence. Children not swimming will accompany their class to the pool and sit with their class teacher.
Book Week: Next term we will celebrate Book Week in Week 3. It is scheduled for Week 2 after being rescheduled. Given that we have swimming in Week 2 it is more convenient for us to move it. On Friday 30 October, we will have our Book Week Parade at 9.15am on the Courts outside St Francis Hall. Having this event outside will enable parents to attend. More details to follow.
School Assembly: Next term our Assembly will be held on Friday of the odd weeks. This is to accommodate Swimming (R – 4) and Aquatics (Year 5 & 6). Our Book Week Parade will also include our Assembly. Our normal COVID protocols will apply.
Soiree Night: This year this event will be filmed. This will be posted to a social media platform. More details to follow.
End of Year Mass: This will be held in the Veritas Centre. This will allow the whole school to attend and have a larger number of parents attend.
Year 6 Graduation: Unfortunately, there have been restrictions placed on the number of family and friends attending. At this stage all parent’s requests have been met.
As we come to the end of Term 3 I would like to acknowledge our school staff. They are dedicated and committed to support students and families.
I hope you all have a safe and enjoyable time with your children over the school holiday break and I look forward to working with you all again next term.
Term 4 begins on Monday 12 October.
