From the Principal

This year has been an extraordinary year, with us all having to navigate through the challenges of COVID-19.  As the staff and I plan for Term 4 we will attempt to have events which will have parents in attendance.  Unfortunately, it comes as no surprise to families that these events have or could be impacted by COVID-19 in one way or the other. This is frustrating for everyone, but it is worth considering that we are quite fortunate to have our students at school and that we are in a State, where we can hold these events at all!  It is only natural for every child and adult to wish things could be run in the “normal way”, but as we all know this is not possible, at this stage.

The theme for our planning for the remainder of the year is to be agile and flexible, when planning events!  This will apply to the following events:

Swimming R – 4 – Unfortunately parents can not attend these lessons to watch their children.  We are following the Swim Centre's COVID Management Plan.  Extra staff will be in attendance to assist children with their changing.  This is an opportunity for our children to develop a sense of independence.  Children not swimming will accompany their class to the pool and sit with their class teacher.

Book Week:  Next term we will celebrate Book Week in Week 3.  It is scheduled for Week 2 after being rescheduled.  Given that we have swimming in Week 2 it is more convenient for us to move it.  On Friday 30 October, we will have our Book Week Parade at 9.15am on the Courts outside St Francis Hall.  Having this event outside will enable parents to attend.  More details to follow.

School Assembly:  Next term our Assembly will be held on Friday of the odd weeks.  This is to accommodate Swimming (R – 4) and Aquatics (Year 5 & 6).  Our Book Week Parade will also include our Assembly.  Our normal COVID protocols will apply.

Soiree Night:  This year this event will be filmed.  This will be posted to a social media platform.  More details to follow.

End of Year Mass:  This will be held in the Veritas Centre.  This will allow the whole school to attend and have a larger number of parents attend.

Year 6 Graduation:  Unfortunately, there have been restrictions placed on the number of family and friends attending.  At this stage all parent’s requests have been met.

As we come to the end of Term 3 I would like to acknowledge our school staff.  They are dedicated and committed to support students and families.

I hope you all have a safe and enjoyable time with your children over the school holiday break and I look forward to working with you all again next term.

Term 4 begins on Monday 12 October.

School Fees to reduce in 2021

We are pleased to announce that in 2021 we will be reducing our school fees.

We are mindful of the financial pressures being faced by many families and our new fee structure will include additional fee relief for families on lower incomes.

Our 2021 fee for a single student will be $2,500 which is a reduction of $450. The fee for lower income families will now be $1,500.

All discounts previously available, including sibling discounts, will still apply.  Extracurricular activities, excursions, camps, and uniforms will continue to be charged separately.

A full schedule of our fees is available on our website.

The fee reduction will not impact the quality of education at our school. We will continue our commitment to the care, wellbeing and academic development of our students

We wish to reassure all families that, where required, fee remissions will continue into 2021.

For more information please contact the Principal, Frank DeTullio

Uniform

The beginning of Term 4 is the designated change over to the Summer School Uniform. The weather over the last few weeks has been so unpredictable so there is a two week change over.  You can decide which uniform your child is most comfortable in.

Our uniform supplier Campus School & College Wear have now finalised their online store. From today, uniforms will be available to purchase online via a link on our website.

Assembly Roster

  Term 3
Week 10 6 Red

Attendance at Assembly:  at this stage parents attending will be limited to 45 (given the dimensions of the Veritas Centre).  This will be by invitation only.  In the week preceding the Assembly I will discuss with the leader of the Assembly who will be invited.  There will be a sign in sheet for parents who attend.

Parents attending please ensure you follow the COVID protocols - social distancing and hygiene.

Family Faith Formation

The 2020/2021 cycle of Family Faith Formation to prepare children for the sacraments of Confirmation and First Holy Communion will commence very soon.

Due to the various restrictions we are under, I ask you to 'register your interest' if you wish to have your child or children participate in this cycle.

Please email familyfaith@catholicparishes.com.au or phone the parish office on 8449 6378 during business hours. Make sure you leave your name and contact number so I can return your call.

Children need to be from a catholic family and at least 7 years old to be part of our group.

If you have any questions, please speak to your APRIM.

Please register as soon as possible.

Judy Fernandez,

Coordinator.
