Celebrations – Masses and Liturgies
After consultation with Father Roderick towards the end of Term 3, we are planning to have three masses this term, with our Thanksgiving Mass at the end of the year as well. The three class masses will be in Weeks 4, 7 and 8.
As has happened in previous years, the classes will be acknowledging Advent by celebrating whole school liturgies during the last two weeks of the school year. The season of Advent is significant within our faith, focusing our thoughts and prayers on the imminent birth of Jesus Christ. Advent is a season of four weeks, though we will only be at school for the first two weeks.

Family Faith Formation
The first day of the September school holidays was a significant day for three of our girls. After much preparation, Mackenzie Howie, Ashton Jackson and Alexandra Jackson celebrated the Sacraments of Confirmation and First Holy Communion.
The girls were fortunate enough to be involved in a beautiful celebration with other children from Semaphore Dominican and the Lefevre Catholic Community Parish. Three masses were led by Father Roderick and the children were surrounded by a lot of love and support.
The next cycle of the Family Faith Formation program will begin soon, with many lessons learnt from the manner in which the program was executed this year.
Religious Education
Our class teachers will be spending time planning for Advent in the coming weeks. Unlike the season of Lent (preparing for Jesus’ passion), we are not at school during a portion of Advent, nor the birth of Jesus at Christmas. This will be the focus of class teachers in the area of Religious Education as the year concludes.
Our Faith
Last Saturday October the 17th was the 10th anniversary of the Canonisation of Australia’s first saint, Saint Mary of the Cross MacKillop. She is the member of an illustrious club of special men and women that have been recognised by the Catholic Church as being significant in the way that they lived their lives and the legacy that they left behind.
St Dominic, a saint that we hold very dear to us at Our Lady of the Visitation Catholic School was canonised (declared a saint) way back on the 3rd of July in the year 1234.
“Do all you can to assist and love one another.”
Mary MacKillop - January 28th, 1890
God bless and take care,
Patrick.
