Newsletter Term 2 Week 10, 2025

Dear OLV Community,
As we wrap up Term 2 and look ahead to the second half of the year, I’d like to take a moment to reflect on the many wonderful things happening in our school and share some important updates.
First and foremost, we are thrilled to welcome back Frank DeTullio to his role as Principal. His leadership, warmth and deep commitment to our community have been greatly missed, and we’re excited to have him return as we begin Term 3.
We also take this opportunity to farewell some valued members of our staff. Julie Taylor, who has served as our Wellbeing Coordinator for many years, is stepping into semi-retirement. Julie’s care and dedication have made a lasting impact, and we wish her all the very best as she embraces a more relaxing lifestyle. We also wish Ms Sandra Naismith all the best as she embarks on a period of Long Service Leave, beginning in Week 2 of Term 3. Sandra’s contributions, especially in Year 5, have been deeply appreciated.
As we say goodbye, we also extend a warm welcome to several new and returning staff members. Ros Braham, known to many in our community, will be joining one of our Mid-Year Reception classes, co-teaching with Tobi Cibich, who is returning from leave. We also welcome Emily Gower and Teresa Deren, who will be co-teaching in the Mid-Year Reception team. In Year 1, Ms Rachael Curran will be taking over the 1CJ class as Ms Jess Cowan steps into the role of Inclusive Education Coordinator. And in Year 5, Ms Laura Welyhorskyj will be joining us to replace Sandra in 5JN. We’re excited about the energy and expertise these educators bring to our school.
Term 3 will commence on Tuesday 22 July, with Monday 21 July being a pupil-free day. We look forward to seeing everyone refreshed and ready for another term of learning and growth.
I want to take this opportunity to congratulate all our students on their incredible efforts—not just across Term 2, but throughout the entire semester. Your hard work, enthusiasm and resilience have been inspiring, and we are so proud of everything you’ve achieved.
To our staff, thank you for the dedication you bring to your roles every single day. Your commitment to our students and the thoughtful work you’ve put into Semester 1 reports is deeply appreciated. It’s a privilege to work alongside such passionate and caring professionals.
Finally, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to our entire community—staff, students and families—for the support, kindness and smiles you bring to OLV every day. Thank you for allowing me the privilege of being part of such a wonderful school. Your warmth and generosity make OLV a truly special place.
Wishing you all a restful break and a joyful start to Term 3.
Warm regards,
Sean Perry

A Message of Gratitude to Our Families
Dear Families,
As we come to the end of another term, I want to take a moment to sincerely thank each and every one of you for your unwavering support, care, and dedication—not only to your own child or children but to our broader school community.
In a time where life presents many challenges, you continue to dig deep. You generously give your time, creativity, and encouragement to help make school a place of joy and possibility. Whether it’s through giving, lending a hand at events, collaborating with staff, or simply cheering from the sidelines, your presence and generosity is felt—and deeply appreciated.
Your commitment to thinking outside the box and going that extra mile ensures our students are not only learning but thriving. We are blessed to walk this journey with families who live out our school values so wholeheartedly.
If we could hand out family awards at our final assembly, they would read:
- Respecting the education system and its ever-evolving complexities,
- Caring for the community with conviction and without reservation,
- Learning alongside your children, modelling the beauty of being lifelong learners.
From all of us, thank you for the partnership, the trust, and the kindness you continuously show. Our school is stronger because of you.
Scripture
"Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing."
— 1 Thessalonians 5:11
Prayer of Thanks for Our Families
Loving God,
We give thanks for the families that surround and support our school community.
For their tireless efforts, their open hearts, and their creative spirits, we are truly grateful.
May their kindness be returned to them in abundance.
Continue to bless their homes with peace, strength, and joy.
Help us to grow together—respecting, caring, and learning—just as You call us to do.
Amen.
Lastly, have a wonderful break from the routines of school and we look forward to seeing you next Term.
God Bless
Linda Caldinez

The Year 5/6 Stall Day at OLV was a huge success, raising just over $1,100 thanks to the incredible support of our school community. The event was filled with fun, learning, and generosity, showcasing the spirit of togetherness that makes OLV so special.
We are deeply grateful to everyone who contributed—whether by donating, volunteering or coming to enjoy the day. The funds raised will go toward creating care packs for the Stella Maris seafarers, offering them comfort while they are far from home.
Well done Year 5/6’s, your teachers are so very proud of you.
