Over the last few weeks in the kindy we have been learning about the first people of Australia, exploring the unique culture of our Aboriginal Australians and the many cultures that make up our collective identity.
What a wonderful start to Term 3 for GIR, playing, learning and growing together! A new classroom and a new group of students!
Earlier this term, the Reception Blue and R/1 Classes participated in a Nature Play Incursion. Although we had cool weather conditions on the day, our students loved being in the outdoors embracing nature.
The students in 2 Red and 3 Blue participated in the RAA Street Smart programme for primary schools.
SENIOR UNIT
4/5 Blue & 6 Red
This term the students in Year 4/5 & 6 have begun exploring the life and works of the famous painter Pablo Picasso.
Students from Reception and Year One are learning Solfege – a system of learning pitched notes that transfers to both playing instruments and to singing. Year Two and Year Three have further developed their skills in this area and are perfecting their short tunes on the xylophones.
Our Lady of the Visitation Preschool is celebrating being awarded national Little Scientists House accreditation.
The rigorous application process involved assessment in four areas: the centre’s educational philosophy, facilities and equipment provided for the children to carry out research, how the educators encouraged children to pursue their own research and how parents and outside agencies were involved.
The R/1 classes have loved making popstick boats, spinning wheels and bugs from natural resources. They also began to use iMovie and create movies of themselves reading a reader out loud.
We have had a busy term learning about all things Italian and Italy.
